Peugeot has been given the opportunity to supply the Royal Mail postal service 100 Partner L2 Electric vans as their latest delivery vehicles across the UK which will aid in boosting their green credentials.
The long-wheelbase versions of the Peugeot Partner will go into service towards the end of the year, when Royal Mail has installed suitable charging stations across their delivery offices. Peugeot won the order after the postal service carried out extensive trials of the Partner van.
The Partner L2 Electric has an official range of 106 miles, offers a 3.7m3 load capacity and a payload of 552kg. The Partner L2 Electric was also launched in February and this is the first major fleet order for the van signalling the shift towards alternatively powered vehicles.
Paul Gatti, Royal Mail Fleet Director, said: “Our research has shown that electric vans are an excellent operational fit with our business and we are delighted to be ordering such a large volume to use in our daily operations. This is good news for our customers and the towns and cities which we serve. It also means we are on the front foot for future changes in emissions legislation.”
