Mercedes-Benz haven’t been involved in the pick-up market in a good while leaving this to be one of the gaps it needed to plug, in order to be able to offer complete customer flexibility the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is just around the corner.
But of course, Mercedes have done so in style with their concept pick-up, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class which is claimed to be the world’s first premium pick-up truck according to Mercedes-Benz themselves.
Mercedes have already opened the order books ready for the 2018 delivery dates but are yet to reveal the X-Class in production form. We have seen two near-production concepts which seem to be enough for some customers who have already put down the £1000 refundable deposit.
We’ve been treated to two distinct concept versions of the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class truck, with confirmation that it’s being built on the robust platform shared with the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan pick-ups under Mercedes’ deal with the Renault-Nissan Alliance.
The pick-up truck from Mercedes-Benz will become a huge competitor to most pick-up models across the range and may even deter people from looking at SUV’s which will grow the mid-sized pick-up range across the UK as a whole, but we will have to see how it compares performance wise..
