Mobileye Shield +™ is an incredibly advanced collision avoidance system available on the current market for lorries, buses, vans & other commercial vehicles; which can be retrofitted to any vehicle.
The retrofit advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) incorporates each aspect of potential collisions; forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, pedestrian and cyclist detection and speed limit recognition.
Making this possible are strategically placed multi-vision smart cameras and interior display modules that alert the driver both visually and audibly if a pedestrian or cyclist is in the drivers’ blind spot.
Their collision avoidance system includes the following lifesaving features:
- Pedestrian and Cyclist Collision Warning (Mobileye PCW)
- Forward Collision Warning (Mobileye FCW)
- Headway Monitoring Warning (Mobileye HMW)
- Lane Departure Warning (Mobileye LDW)
- Speed Limit Indicator (Mobileye SLI)
Unlike other collision detection systems, our smart solution uses award-winning image recognition software to reduce unnecessary warnings, which can desensitise drivers over time; Mobileye Shield +™ only alerts drivers if a collision is imminent with vulnerable road users, not inanimate objects.
In addition, this solution includes a full telematics system which tracks the vehicle and reports all warnings made by the system to your fleet management system, providing fleet managers with valuable information about their drivers’ daily driving behaviour.
“People are recording accidents instead of preventing them, my question is why? What we are seeing in fleet is direct vision, telematics, cameras, it’s all about dealing with an accident after it happens or having to get the driver to look away from the road,” said Gil Ayalon, Mobileye’s European director.
Ayalon said: “We are here to save lives, if you have less accidents you have less operating costs. We are here to provide the cure for this epidemic of road accidents.”
The company is already global leader in the development of computer vision and machine learning, data analysis, localisation and mapping for ADAS and autonomous driving.
In August it was acquired by Intel. The acquisition is expected to accelerate innovation for the automotive industry and combined the companies plan to lead the market for highly and fully autonomous vehicles.
