Manufacturers announce LCV scrappage schemes for pre Euro-5 vehicles

Scrappage schemes are popping up a lot recently from all manufacturers but Ford are the first to do so for their LCV models, shortly followed by the likes of Volkswagen, Renault, Fiat, Peugeot-Citroen & Toyota.

With some variations between the different manufacturer scrappage schemes available, there are also many similarities too, such as; In almost every instance the vehicle which you’re trading in to receive the discount must be pre-Euro 5 engines, outlining that anything Euro 4 or earlier is accepted.

The Euro 4 cut-off registration date was December 31st 2009, implying anything pre-2010 should be okay, but take into account that some Euro 5 vehicles were available early.

The difference here is that Peugeot and Citroen, who are a partnership of French firms seem to be doing things differently. Rather than relying on emissions data, the two have simply set a cut-off date for the first registration of the trade-in vehicle at 31st December 2010, adding an extra year onto their scheme.scrappage schemes
